Lublin Airport opened today 17th Dec 2012 – welcome first Ryanair London flight!

It’s been a very exciting day for Lublin today! The long long (LONG!!) awaited Lublin airport (based in Swidnik near Lublin – see map below) has finally opened!
And we only waited 23 years for it!! 🙂

The first Warsaw plane touched down at the shiny (and snowy!) new airport after 9am local time – and the first Ryanair plane from London arrived at 1pm local time and the first passengers were treated to a cute ryanair-plane-shaped cake 🙂 nice!  How exciting is that!? (and then promptly took off again back for London at 2pm http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DSKD5Merh-M)

Flights will be operated by Ryanair and Wizzair – and you can now travel almost every day in the week – apart from Sundays! A small price to pay for swapping the 10 hour trip home for 4 hours!!

We’ve booked our trip for January now – here’s some photos to whet your appetite to go visit the lovely city of Lublin too!

So congratulations Lublin airport, we’re officially on the map now 🙂 come on everyone, go and visit – and see some real snow while you’re there!Book your flights to Lublin now.
